Mount Učka

At 1,401 meters, Učka is the mountain that makes Opatija's microclimate possible — it blocks the cold continental air, which is why palm trees grow at sea level here. The hike from Poklon pass takes about 2 hours to the summit, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Venice across the Adriatic. Not metaphorically — literally. Paragliding off the top is a thing too, if that's your speed. Drive to Poklon (30 min from Opatija), then hike up.
